Pinterest Wins and Fails

You've probably been wondering where I've been lately.  (Yeah - I know, you haven't really noticed that I haven't been blogging much, just smile and nod)  I usually blog during Savannah's nap or right after she goes to bed, but lately my blogging time and been turned to Pinterest time!  Not just looking at pintrest, but DOING pinterest! :)

So if you don't know what I'm talking about - THIS is Pinterest. I think it's best described as an online magazine, only, it's just the stuff that other people are looking at, and you can choose just to see what your friends are looking at!  People bookmark stuff from websites on Pintrest, then you can "repinn" or bookmark their stuff.  It's a lot of recipes, cleaning tips, craft ideas, style ideas, home decorating.... stuff like that.  It's fun.

I've been pinning like crazy lately, and all these ideas have been making my life awesome!  Here's some of the latest Wins and Fails from ideas I got from Pinterest.

WIN!!
I made this for Thanksgiving with my family with the pumpkin I pureed.  Yeah - I pureed a WHOLE pumpkin.  I'll post on that later because I'm super impressed with myself.  Anyway, the fluff was super good.  We dipped apples and cinnamon graham crackers in it.  A HUGE HIT!  And only like 3 ingredients.

WIN!!!
I made these for dinner last night and they were AMAZING! I didn't have all the correct ingrediants, so I subsituted some.  I can only imagine how amazing they would be with the RIGHT things in them.  SO SO SO good!  And you know, sweet potatoes are so so so good for you too!

Cotton Ball Christmas Decor

FAIL!!!

I don't even want to talk about it.  Just know it ended with Travis saying "Can you please go to Hobby Lobby and get something to put in that frame?"

Spray Paint Everything for XMAS Decor

These are actually things I did!

WINNNNN!!!
I have been spray painting pine cones and sticks like you wouldn't believe. Also painted some vases, candle jars, that frame in the fail cotton ball picture, our old pumpkins on the steps, it goes on.... love it!

Use baking soda and peroxide to clean pans and glass stove top

FAIL!
Maybe my stuff is just too far dirty and gone to bring it back, but I have scrubbed and scrubbed and I see little to  no change.  I know it's not organic or "safe" but I'm gonna have to stick with good old chemical cleaners for this one.

There are so many more things, but I just don't have the time.  Plus I'm itching to see what's new on Pintrest today!  Other projects to mention:

- No Sew Scarf made from T-shirt: Win..ish
- Homemade Sugar Scrub: WIN!
- Buffalo Wing crock pot soup : WIN!
- Avocado Grilled Cheese: WIN!
- Apple Sandwiches with granola and peanut butter: FAIL!

Bible Action Plays

Travis and Savannah have somewhat limited regular play time - so normally they play Savannah's favorite games - "chase" and "jail".  Both games are basically Travis chasing Savannah all over the house with lots of yelling and lots of running, throwing and jumping and wrestling involved.  Those were my favorite games too , only I think I called "get me daddy".

Well last night they both got a little creative and decided to act out some of Sav's favorite Bible stories.  I caught on to what they were doing and decided to try to record it.  With out further waiting, I present to you .... Daniel and Goliath -

(it was super funny because Travis takes all creative family projects so seriously, he was almost mad at her for forgetting her lines a couple times.  But he did pull it around and in the end was totally thrilled with her performance. )

Jem Jam part 2 -

So I'm a a little behind on some blogging.
Here are the pictures from Trick or Treating the night of Halloween.

We decided to head over to my friend Meghan's neighborhood for evening trick or treat so that Savannah could go door to door with some friends.  It worked out awesome.  Jem and Snow White got plenty of candy together!

Our neighbors all go a little Halloween (and Christmas for that matter) crazy with the decore

Here's Jem at my parent's house.  We had to take a cheesy one for show off's sake.

winter snow preview

We had a light snow the other morning.  It was a nice preview of what's to come.  It was kind of nice because it was gone by noon, but it still helped mentally prepare me for winter and it showed us that the snow suite that Savannah has worn the last two years is now much too small.
Nevertheless, Savannah couldn't wait to get out there and make a snow angel.

Sweet Pot Fries Plus

So I'm makin up a batch of sweet potato fries for my family right now, and I realized that I actually have a pretty good thing going.  I've been making them around here for about 2 years and I'm super proud of my ability.  I make almost as good fries as I do muffins.  Here's the combo:

1 -2 Sweet potatoes covered in
A. Coconut Oil
B. Salt
C. Flaxseed
D. Cumin

Bake for 10 minutes at 380, then flip over and bake for another 5 minutes.
Here's the Stats:

- Sweet Potatoes are one of the healthiest foods in the world!  Vitamin C, Potassium, Fiber.....
- Coconut Oil contains the good kind of fat, plus it's great for digestion, immunity and I've heard claims that eating it regularly can help cure cancer and HIV... not sure on those ones....
- Flaxseed is good for your cholesterol, has tons of fiber, and is full of Omega 3!
- Salt and Cumin.. just all round good on everything!

I've also found that the coconut oil makes the fries a little less flimsy.  Try it!

Big Baby....not anymore!

I can't believe how big Savannah is sometimes.
Somedays I love how grown up and independent she has gotten, but other days it does make me a little sad that she's really a girl now, not a baby in anyway.  I took these pictures the other night when we were at the park.

Did I mention she really likes to play hide and seek...but she's not good at it.......
