Generational

Thought I'd post a couple of the more meaningful pictures I took when we were in Oregon.  Not that I'm a great photographer or anything like that - age is such a strange thing when you think about it.

Four generations of Norwegians.  You could probably tell that without my telling you though.

Portland highlights

Savannah and I and my Dad are back from our trip out East now.  It has taken a couple of days, but we may be starting to catch up on our rest.  There is something to be said about the weariness of A.Traveling while 7 months pregnant and B. Traveling with a 4 year old that doesn't adjust to time travel (you might call it time zones).  Savannah woke up almost every day we were there around 4:30am (which was 6:30am Iowa time) and we were up late most nights.  With our flights being a little later on the way home we didn't actually get to bed until 12:45am (Tuesday morning) and guess who was up and ready to go by 7am!? Savannah went to school yesterday and everything!
She didn't have school today so we got to sleep in a little and i'm crossing my fingers hoping for a long nap!

Here's a few highlights from our days:

Spending quality time with Grandma Mary.  Savannah really enjoyed her back yard as well.   We got some good solid time in with our family out there that we don't get to see too often.  The last time I was out there was at least 8 years ago.

My aunts bought her a princess dress from the Disney store.  I had told her that we couldn't afford one and she was great about picking out some little rings instead of a dress.  After we bought the rings my aunts to Savannah that THEY were getting her one.  The first picture is right when she found out - the second one is her in the dress.

Here's some shots of the trip home.  Savannah did great traveling.  It was a really long day, but she did awesome about keeping things moving along and having a great attitude.  She was so excited.  She talked and sang almost the ENTIRE time!  Better than screaming and whining I guess!

A little out of oder but whateves -
We went into downtown Portland one day for lunch and ate at this place that was 13 stories up.  Good thing we love heights! :)

Lil trip to Oregon #1

Yesterday we flew out to Portland with my Dad to visit his family. We left our house at 4:30am, and after only 6 hours of total travel we arrived. Our seats were a little split up on the plane and Savannah wanted to ride by my dad the whole time so I sat alone and they played. I can say, I normally love flying, but I wasn't prepared for how much more cramped I would feel at 7 months pregnant!

We spent the day with my aunts and Grandma who took us to a cool little park to feed squirrels. That was kind of a thrill!

Ames High future cheerleader

Since this was a while ago and I still haven't written a real post, I thought I should at least post the pictures from Savannah's experience at the Ames High cheer clinic. It was really fun for her- and fun for us to watch her 10 minute performance!

Camo

Savannah is camouflaging herself with the butter. You can't even see her, can you?

He's coming for sure

I decided I should consider taking more pregnancy pictures than I was.  I might want to look back some day and remember this time.  It's no secret that I don't love this phase of life, but it's life and it's given to me by God so I'll work to appreciate it more - kinda like winter.
I've been feeling a lot of kicking and wiggling lately.  They told me at the doctor to make sure that I count 10 movements within a two hour time period.  Every time I have sat down to count I get to 10 in about 4 minutes.  We're in for another wild child I think.

Just for fun I found this picture of 32 weeks with Savannah.  I have a few pictures still on Myspace - can you believe that!  Who uses Myspace anymore?
I think I can safely say I am feeling a little better over all this time around.  My biggest complaint is that I have been just so stinking tired.  And when I nap I feel worse.  But if I don't nap then I am dead after 6pm.  I guess things could be much worse.

Field Trip Day!!

Savannah's class had a field trip to a local apple orchard today.
This was great for 2 reasons: 1. I got to spend time with Savannah, her teachers and her new friends and 2. We got to go to the orchard that usually costs $10 a person for free! :)

Here are a couple pictures of Savannah with her friends.  When I met the class at the orchard she was holding hands with her friend below and when she saw me she got all mad and told me to go away.  She wouldn't even sit by me on the hay ride.  She's so independent!  I had a little convo with her about talking nicely to me, but over all I'm glad she is enjoying her friends at school.

Here's the whole gang.  The woman in the middle is her teacher, Ms Suzanne. The other two are the helpers - Ms Irena and Ms Meghan.  They are all so great with the kids.

This place has it all!
A pool of corn - it's kind of hard to run in according to Savannah.
A jumping pillow to bounce all over.
Animals.
And picking your own pumpkins.
After the class went home on the bus, we got to stay a while and play with a friend of ours from church and her daughter that is also in Savannah's class. Savannah was sad to miss the bus ride - it was one of her favorite parts of the day.  But we stayed about another hour, then we hit the jack pot at the apple store on our way out.  We may have gone overboard, but we were HUNGRY!

Random

Just a handful of random pictures of our lives the last couple weeks:

I like this one.  I like them all.  But this was taken one day right when Savannah came down from her nap.  She just snuggled up with Brisco and laid there half asleep for about 10 minutes.

I was having a really rough day - physically tired and not feeling well which lead to heightened emotions and depression.  When I picked Savannah up from school we went to the grocery store - she was so so fun and good and we picked up a Pizza for lunch on our way home.  This face can so make my day.

Hahahaha.  Travis "sacrificially" got up with Savannah at 7am on Saturday so that I could sleep in.  Savannah came and got me 30 minutes later and I found this on the couch :)
I'll redeem this but telling you that he spent the ENTIRE Saturday working on chores and projects for me around the house.

Savannah knows that a clean house means a lot to me.
She wanted to play store in the toy room last week so she cleaned the whole room up all by herself.  (Trust me, it was crazy messy before this)
You can see the pride beaming from her face.

I know this is really sad and if you've seen the cat pictures on facebook you probably think I take way too many pictures of my child crying.  This one is great though because it was right after I had told her that my dad had gotten a ticket for not wearing a seat belt.  She was so so concerned and worried for him.  It took pretty much all day and a face to face conversation with Grandpa to calm her down.  She's so caring.

This is just us messing around eating Trader Joes suckers.

Big sister class

We're having a baby brother!  I know that's not new news to anyone, but it's big news around here every single day.  Savannah especially is consumed with things she'll teach him, things they'll do together, and how she's going to help him and take care of him - so when I saw that there was a Big brother Big sister class at the hospital coming up, and it was free, I signed her right up.

The class was a little over an hour long and parents didn't stay for most of it - but here's what Savannah told us she learned: How to hold a baby with it's head in your elbow, how to feed a baby, and how to diaper a baby.  She also made a bib for the baby, got a pin to wear around and a diaper to take home to practice with.

We popped into the class just in time to see them learning to diaper the baby.  You can't tell by this picture, but Savannah was totally locked into the lesson and even watched super closely to each person taking their turn trying it.  Then she had her turn to try and did amazing.  This girl is ready for her new role in life!  I can't wait to see her in action!

The last part of the class was a tour of the Birthways floor at the hospital so they could all see where the baby would be born.  It was a little crazy for Travis and I to go up there again and think about going through it all.  We are not taking the birthing class again.  But Travis keeps reminding me that last time one of the nurses told him that he was the best husband / coach she had ever seen - some how I have no memory of this but he swears it happened.
